• This course designed for those involved in pastoral care and counsellors was great fun. The course was highly interactive and was a great taster for those being introduced to Refocussing.

CONTENT

We covered:

1. What are God Spaces?
2. How can Godspaces be used to facilitate the practice of Refocussing?
3. Learning to facilitate how to help people (1) locate (find), access (experience) and develop (describe) where God is for them; (2)   attend to their experiences to develop  any revelations / ‘knowings’ albeit – visual, auditory or kinaesthetic so that  (3)   engagement and interaction with God can be way that leads to effective and healthful living in all aspects of functioning – intrapersonal, interpersonal and transpersonal.
4. The course is designed to teach and equip people with the theory and practice of God Spaces so that it can be applied in the following ways: (1) the individual personal level, as an effective prayer technique;  (2) as a pastoral care intervention  - as in ‘prayer counselling’ allowing an effective and safe way for people to encounter God ensuring a predictable, reliable and repeatable practice.
5. The course provides effective ‘tools’ to empower people with a way to practice ‘Refocussing’,  equipping people with practical skills to shift from a negative, detrimental way of thinking, feeling and behaving.
6. The course is designed also to act as a prerequisite to training as a RF self awareness group facilitator  (track 2)

An introduction to the main aspect of Refocussing – The ‘GodSpaces’ (also advertised as the RF pastoral care training course)  Guilford hosts  March 5-13 at a series of churches

This is a prerequisite for all other courses .

The necessity to learn what GodSpaces are, the theology that under-girds the theory and practice of God Spaces and and how  the names and characteristics of our Triune God are all essential knowledge and entirely fundamental to understanding what Refocussing is, and where it came from. Without  ’GodSpaces’ there would be no  theory and practice of the Refocussing that  Diane Divett has originated and developed and taught. God Spaces is the theory and practice that ‘sits inside Refocussing theory and practice that allows for a way that is reliable, repeatable and predictable to connect to and encounter God’s astounding love and presence revealing Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit and God the Father – in other words our  Triune God.

Track 2: Refocussing  life mapping & self awareness programme: -A 1 day introduction programme

This  course will provide  a series of lessons that take you on a ‘wholistic’ journey that empowers you to examine:

(1) where have you come from? (2) where are you now? (3) where are you going? (4) what will God via Refocussing give you so you can  break free of debilitating patterns of thinking, behaving and feeling, in order to achieve the ‘plans he has for you’ in accordance with Jeremiah 29:11.

This course is highly interactive designed to provide  (1) those people who wish to engage in s self awareness journey; and (2)  counsellors with some interventionist tools’ that  teach people about the:

(a) Refocussing life mapping process which empowers them to  articulate and describe the future  God reveals to them f- achieved via:

via drawing, art, symbols and other psycho-educational activities.

(b) Refocussing  self awareness programme, which provides an examination of fundamental themes that prevent the vision and dream being realised – but with God’s power that is by ‘Refocussing’ the ‘strongholds’ will be exposed and demolished by His Divine Power (2 Corin.10:3-5).

Track 3 :Refocussing counselling: the theory and the therapy (March 10-12)

Who?

These course are suitable for people to become facilitators of the various aspects and level that Refocussing is offered at.

Therefore the level of training and prerequisites differ for each course – the levels of training beginning with the most academically qualified to those qualifications that take practice and years of experience into consideration.

• RF facilitator for the Training of therapists and counsellors is available to those who are  psychologists, certified trained counsellors and, or, pastors who are qualified in counselling, psychology or other mental health areas – the prerequisites are to be trained in all three parts of Refocusing as well as holding a recognised qualification from an appropriately recognised tertiary institution such as a University. As well a reference is required from a pastor and supervisor of your work before your application will be considered.
• RF small group facilitator of the Refocussing self, other and God awareness curriculum. Prerequisites to apply are the necessity to complete part one and two of Refocussing training. A reference is required for your local church pastor to be considered for the training.
• A pastoral counsellor’s facilitator is required to complete part one and two of the Refocussing training. The training equips pastoral counsellors to train the church in how to use Refocussing and Godspaces in prayer work on altar calls and in brief counselling sessions at a pastoral care level. References are required from the church that the training will be conducted in.
• Godspaces facilitation to shift people from trauma  - parts 1 & 2 are prerequiastes for this cousre as well as a letter of recommendation from pastors of the church or mission organisation that the applicant is involved with.
• Godspaces for evangelism facilitator – this courses is available to anyone who has a passion to introduce people to God, However prerequisites to become facilitators in churches or organisations to train other is the completion of part 1 & 2 before specific training in this facilitation is offered.

A re-examination of how the ‘RF seven foci system’ has been carefully researched to integrate psychology and theology to highlight people’s ‘unmet needs’; but then more importantly how to access God’s power and presence to attend to those needs in order to facilitate healing, resourcing, or, simply to find resolution to those unsolved problems that require planning, strategy and how to action them to achieve the best healthful outcomes, so that people can begin to achieve balance, wholeness and harmony in their lives.

How to use  God Spaces to help children.

An introduction to some safe but powerful interventions to help children when they are having problems such as fear, nightmares, learning difficulties, difficulty coping with parents separating/divorce.

Who for?

This course is open to any people who are wanting to gain some skills for their own relationship as a couple in particular, but also for counsellors who want some new interventions to use in their couples work.

Content?

The course is designed to help people:

• discover their own unique relationship style by examining patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling;
• develop a vision for what they want their relationship to look like, then, to develop strategies to achieve that;
• which will include helping people examine how to pin point their own ‘unmet childhood needs’; especially those that are often the central ‘sticking point’ in their relationships;
• therefore to identify and examine those, ‘child parts’, which people often subconsciously act out of , so that they can see  see how such patterns if left unattended to can exacerbate destructive  negative patterns ,
• so Refocussing sills and tools will be taught to empower people to shift to a healthy way of operating
• including empowering people with specific communication skills and ‘Divine Power’ so people can ‘demolish the strongholds’ or various ‘mechanisms of power and control’ they may use to get their unmet  needs  met by various means, such as manipulation, addictions and so on.

Together, Hamish and Diane will conduct most of the course , both teaching skills and various interactive exercises, but also sharing from their own experiences, including: 34 years of marriage; 31 years of pastoral experience providing couples counselling, as well as  drawing from their own diverse backgrounds – Diane growing in a family that experienced divorce,  re marriage, blended families while Hamish grew up with the stable Mum, Dad, and the four kids, with grandparents close by.

What?

Content: This course is an introduction to a new series of training which will get underway in May 2009.

This course is an introduction to allow people to (a) experience what Refocussing life mapping is like; and (b) to introduce you to the training that begins in May for those who want to become certified  ’Refocussing life mapping coaches’ . The course proper begins mid May 17 and will be conducted Sunday afternoons for  5 weeks until June14.

This  half-day introduction is designed to take seriously  Habakkuk 2:2-5, which states ‘Write down the revelation (the vision), and make it plain on the ‘tablets’ .

• So the Refocussing Life mapping  provides an interactive, exercise based, learning, teaching and coaching process designed  specifically to facilitate you being able to define (through various  exercises and activities) then, record (via various processes) and examine various strategies(via tailor made learning processes designed to fit your culture, context and ‘giftings’) how you can achieve the  vision, the goals, the  journey God has for you. This includes the  people, the places, the gifts/strengths/ resilience factors , that you have when coupled with God’s perspective (refocus) and His resources and those of others to achieve this?

Who for?

This one day course is designed for people of all ages and stages of life who are serious about examining and creating a life map so that they can begin to define or re-examine the plans and purposes that God has for them.. The course helps people to define their own action plans so that they can begin to strategize effectively in order to see the a the vision, the dream, the plans, that God has for them, come to fruition in accordance with Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope”.

Our experience as a pastors with over thirty years experience is that this is a great need in the church. We realise that while many people do have visions, prophecies about the future, and dreams that they hold in secret – that don’t ever seem to go away, we see that for many they often fail to achieve these. What is the course content?

This provides an introductory overview of what Refocussing is about, with some of the psychological and theological background that is fundamental to the theory and practice of Refocussing. 

Specifically, the course  is designed to be a highly interactive learning and teaching experience so that the participants have fun, learn about themselves and their relationship with God in a safe, caring context. 

The course is designed to help people ‘see’ that the Refocussing way of living, is about  gaining knowledge, skills and ‘tools’ to ‘go where God is’ and gain God’s perspective on how to live life with His presence so that you are more  empowered to achieve all that He has for you as an individual, a family, a community,a society and so on,  by including Him in all aspects of your lives, including the past (where have you come from?) the present (where are you now in your journey) the future (where are you going, your goals, hopes and aspirations) and most importantly gaining workable strategies to achieve the vision, goals, dreams that he has for each person.

The course introduces the participants (with activities and  exercises, specifically designed by Dr Divett, resulting from her years of her educational, psychological and theological knowledge and experience), to the following concepts:

• ‘Godspaces’ a way to encounter and experience God in a way that is predictable, reliable and repeatable, so that 
• a sense of God’s love, safety, care and closeness is provided at all times throughout the course (and as a routine part of their daily lives);

Requirements: This course is a prerequisite for all the other courses: it provides an introduction so yu can choose which branch of Refocussing you want to further train in. From these course people can apply to become a facilitator of the various branches but special conditions apply.

These seminars are an interactive experience designed specifically designed for anyone who wants to go on a journey of discovery to learn how you can experience God based on a sound theology of who He really is, according to  some of the numerous names and characteristics of our extraordinary Triune God. The seminar is available as  a 1 or 2  or 3 day format, or it is also presented as a small group ten lesson curriculum.
